Adél Szegedi is a London based Hungarian multimedia artist, specialized in animation filmmaking, illustrations, writing and mixed media installations.
She has learned the basics of animation and filmmaking at Illyés Academy of Arts in Hungary, then continued her studies on the Contemporary Media Practice course at the University of Westminster in London.
Through a spiritual and philosophical approach, usually accompanied with absurd and dark humor, her works take place in a poetic setting, being more atmosphere than character focused. She aims to capture a surreal and odd sensation which usually reflects on her inexhaustible fascination about mythologies, folk art and the link between the material and nonmaterial dimensions.
She mostly works with analogue tools, using aquarelle, ink, colour pencil or charcoal to create subtle abstract narratives.
Her debut film, Password to the ***** (2021) has screened at numerous international festivals including Annecy International Film Festival, Bucheon International Animation Festival, Festival of Animation Berlin and Sweaty Eyeballs Animation Festival.
